SEMINAR ON QUALITY MANAGEMENT AND EVALUATION METHODS MOBILISES PRINCIPAL OFFICERS AND HEADS OF PROGRAMS IN UB
The improvement of quality and evaluation methods ,in teaching in the University of Buea was the focus of a two day seminar organised by the Higher Education for Professions in Central Africa support team known in its french acronym as PAPESAC .
Opened by the Vice- Chancelor Professor Vincent P.K Titianji,the over 60 participants in attendance followed deliberations in 2 groups; on the Scope of Evaluating Academic programs in the BMP programs in UB ,taking into consideration values such as relevance to the society,innovation and excellence.
The seminar objectives touched on,improving the employability of students and their success rates ,increasing the impact of acedemic programs through outreach and providing development oriented programs amongst others.
It was two days of intensive work coordinated by the PAPESAC team who included Mr. Flvien Anno, Technical Adviser for training, planning and design, Mr. Jean-Phillipe Thouard, technical Adviser for Project Engineering and Quality and Mr. Georges Halas, Technical Adviser for Teacher Professionalization working hand in hand with local facilitators who included Dr. Nalova Lyonga, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Teaching, Professionalization and Development of Information and Communication Technologies, Professor Joyce Endeley, Director of Academic Affairs and Professor Nzumbe-Mesape Ntoko, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Internal Control and Evaluation.
According to Mr. Jean-Philip Thouard Technical Advicer for the Project Engineering and Quality.The seminar attained relative success following commitment shown by the academia in UB to avail themselves of techniques and approaches that conform with international standards of evaluation.
The PAPESAC official affirmed that with this acquisition,UB products will proudly compete world widwide.
This note of optimism and satisfaction was coroborated by the Vice -Chancelor who stated that the University of Buea is fully engaged in “training for the national economy,for citizenship and for development”.He then expressed UB administration gratitude to PAPESAC for supporting the University in this endeavour.
