New UBSU Executive Installed

 

NEW UBSU EXECUTIVE INSTALLED

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea Prof. Vincent  P.K Titianji has called on the newly elected executives of the University of Buea Student Union (UBSU) to uphold an exemplary comportment in the running of the union. This, he said, is the only condition  to change the image of UBSU  which for some time has been a source of embarrasement to the UB administration and to the same   students the union is expected to serve.

The Vice-Chancellor, however, promised the administration’s  support to the Union to enable her to contribute in creating an environment condusive for students to focus on their studies as overidding goal. The new UBSU president, Mr. Nemkul Lackbuin Samuel a post graduate student in the Faculty of Arts, promised to use dialogue in preference while treating with the administration.

The installation ceremony was done four days after the elections that took place on the 14th of April 2011. Students voted under the  Yellow, White and Red lists with the Yellow winning by 1314 votes ,the White were the second runners up with 1154 votes while the Red list had only 300 votes. The head of the White  list, Mr. Epizitone Kalle Dante and the Deputy of the Red list, Mr. Nelson A. Mbongaya  recognized the election as being transparent and have promised their support to the newly installed executive. To the Director of Students Affairs Dr. Ludwig Metuge,  the elections were  more participatory and democratic this time.
