Postgraduate Admission Requirements

The admission requirements set out below are the minimum requirements, which may entitle an applicant to a place in the University for Postgraduate degree courses.

  • Candidates must hold a good Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the required field of studies from a recognized university with at least a Second Class (Honours), Lower Division or Mention “Assez-Bien” or its equivalent.
  • Transcripts indicating the courses taken at the undergraduate level and grades earned should be submitted. Transcripts written in languages other than English should be translated into English.
  • Three sealed letters of recommendation, preferably from lecturers or professors should be attached.
  • The duration of the Masters programme is two years (4 semesters). It involves both course work and research. The first year is usually devoted to course work. The duration for PhD programmes is 3 to 5 years and involves both course work and research. Each candidate will be required to submit a research proposal of about 300 words in in double spaced typescript to the Department of interest.
