Professor Martin Njeuma is Honored by The State
The late Professor Martin Zachary Njeuma a revered historian and university Don, who died on April 28th 2010, has been laid to rest in Buea.
A requiem mass at the St. Anthony Catholic Church Buea town was celebrated by three Bishops; their Lordships George Nkwo, Teke Lysinge and Emmanuel Bushu of the Kumbo, Mamfe and Buea dioceses respectively. In his homily the Reverend Father Nkea Andrew remembered the late Professor as a man who made an effort to live a Christian life and called on mourners to see death as a natural phenomenon and not annihilation.
On behalf of the Head of State, the Late Professor Njeuma was decorated post-hummously as Commander of the National Order of Valour by Professor Vincent PK Titanji; Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea and Personal Representative of The Head of State at the funeral.
The decoration was preceded by the reading of a message of encouragement from the Head of State to the deceased’s spouse Professor Mrs. Dorothy Limunga Njeuma and the entire Njeuma family by the First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Division Mr. Malafa Johnson.
The funeral attracted top-ranking personalities in the nation among them; The Grand Chancellor of National Orders and former Prime Minister H.E Peter Mafany Musonge, Members of Government, The Governor of the South West Region H.E Koumpa Issa, H.E Ephraim Inoni; Former Prime Minister, University and Administrative and traditional authorities and a cross-section of sympathizers.
